About Al Wordlaw
Al Wordlaw is a veteran Chicago-based producer, singer and songwriter, and the creative force behind The Al Ur Pal Project. With a musical foundation shaped by soul, gospel, jazz, funk, Motown and the smooth melodic character of ’90s R&B, Wordlaw has spent decades creating songs built around melody, emotion and a message of encouragement.
A proud Seventh-day Adventist, faith plays an important role in both his life and his music. For Wordlaw, songwriting is about more than entertainment. His work is rooted in love, hope, positivity and human connection, with songs intended to uplift listeners and offer something meaningful across generations.
Over the years, Wordlaw has written and produced more than 70 tracks, building a catalog that reflects his wide-ranging musical influences and dedication to songwriting. Through The Al Ur Pal Project, he brings those songs to life with a growing circle of vocalists, musicians and producers.
Collaborators have included vocalists Huly Ray Asidor, Shen Asidor and Sofia Banga, along with musicians and producers who have helped shape selected recordings while preserving Wordlaw’s original vision at the heart of the project. Over the years, Al has also worked with and featured artists and musicians connected to MAXX TRAXX, Omni, Heaven & Earth, The Dells, Pattie Hamilton, Raphael Miles, Tom Tom 84, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Jerry Butler’s band.
A former firefighter as well as a lifelong creative, Wordlaw brings a sense of purpose, perseverance and service to everything he does. With The Al Ur Pal Project, he continues to share music designed to uplift, inspire and spread love.
